A sound engineer has a broad knowledge of music equipment, recording techniques and acoustics. The intention of the sound engineer is to fulfill his task in such a way that the musician can concentrate on bringing his music and therefore does not have to deal with all kinds of peripheral issues.
Furthermore, a good relationship between the musician and the sound engineer is important to achieve a satisfactory result, especially in the interest of the demands of the musician, but of course the sound engineer can also set his requirements to be able to properly perform his work. An example of the musician (s) could be that the bass guitar should sound like a specified piece of music. The sound engineer could then ask to lay new strings on the used bass guitar and use multiple bass amplifiers to achieve the desired result.

A DI unit (direct input or direct inject) is an electronic device typically used in recording studios and in sound reinforcement systems to connect a high-output impedance, line level, unbalanced output signal to a low-impedance, microphone level, balanced input, usually via an XLR connector and XLR cable.
DIs are frequently used to connect an electric guitar or electric bass to a mixing console's microphone input jack.
